LEEDS REVIEW

eeds returned once again in 2015 for another heart stopping spectacular show. This year there was a whole range of acts putting       on a variety of acts across a huge amount of stages. Taking place across bank holiday weekend towards the end of August Leeds originally made its debut as a rock festival always offering a huge lineup in that field. Recently, however, Leeds lineup has expanded its variety by including all kinds of acts. From drum and bass, to alternative indie tunes all the way to Hannah Want's massive drops. We made our way to the festival for our second year this year. Originally we went 2014 and felt like we had to return. We had our hopes high, our wellies packed (Leeds has a tendancy to get retty muddy) and if we learnt anything from the previous year it was to strap ourselves in.

We arrived at Bramham Park on Wednesday 26th August and our excitement was already showing. Normally the festival begins on the Thursday but people have the oppurtunity to buy early bird tickets, usually around £20, to go for an extra day. Even though there is not much going on on this day its just a good way to make sure a camping space is aquired as we learnt from 2014 it can get                                                                                                  pretty cramped. We got our stuff together and set up camp in Yellow                                                                                                      Bubble, a small camp set aside from eveywhere else. We eagerly set up                                                                                                our tents and didn't hestitate to make friends as we know how friendly and                                                                                              accepting everyone at the festival is.

There usually isn't much going on on the Wednesday night, usually its a

time for people to explore the festival and find their bearing, but we                                                                                                              already had ours. We had a quick stumble round exploring the shops and

enjoyed basking in the sun as we killed time. We bought firewood for the

night ahead since we know how cold those Leeds nights can become.

Wednesday night rolled round and we just went to check out the carnival

since they're the only thing playing music at this point and attracted itself

a little crowd of early eager ravers. It was a fun little kickstart to the                                                                                                                festival and we made our way back to yellow camp, eager to start a fire

and share some of our favourite festival stories with new neighbours. The sky was clear, everyone was optimisitic but a little tired of course but we went to sleep warm and cosy ready for the day ahead and what it may bring us...  I mean afterall, Thursday is where it really starts to kick off due to Relentless and other stages started to open their doors.

We welcomed Thursday with open arms. Not much happened throughout the day, bit more socialising, pot noodles cooking, just killiing time until night came because if you've been Leeds you know the night is where the festival really, and I mean really comes alive. The sun started to set over the park and people eagerly had another explore. The main arena opened today and they had a little bit of fun playing sing along songs like Pass Out by Tinie Tempah and Kids by MGMT. Eventually we left the alternative tent and made our way to Relentless. It was packed, the first night of it opening was not going to be missed by everyone at the festival. It was meant to start at 8 but as 5 past rolled round the chants starting coming. "Leeds, you what, you what?" again and again. Wow how we missed that chant. The music started playing, blasting tunes of Biggie Smalls and Disclosure. The crowd went mental when they played "When a fire starts to burn" by Disclosure. See the video below.

Friday was pretty uneventful, Jamie T was incredible on the Main Stage followed by a hearting performance by Blonde. The sun started to set as we made our way to the dance tent for Gorgon City. As we waited for Gorgon City to came out the crowd was buzzing as songs were being played in preparation. Icona Pop's 'I dont care' really got the crowd going. Gorgon City came on and everyone went mental, all dancing along to songs such as 'Imagination' and 'Go All Night'. Honestly they were one of the best sets of the weekend without a doubt.

Friday night went off again at Bar 8, Relentless and Picadilly Party. We made our way back to the camp to have another chill by the fire anticipating what the next day would bring. Saturday welcomed welcomed us once more with open arms and glorious weather, Today was a good day in terms of who we were seeing. They had names such as Knife Party and Bastille topping the charts today. Bastille was the first act that we saw. IF you were looking forward to having a sing along then Bastill ewas theplace to go. People everywhere in the crowd chanting and singing along to his classics such as 'No Angels' and 'Pompeii'. As his set ended people were walking away with a smile on their faces at the absolute scenes they just saw. Next person on the bill for saturday was Hannah Wants. We've never experienced a tent so cramped in our lives! We could barely get in at all. We stood around for a cuple minutes before deciding that Mumford and Sons would be the better option where we would actually see music being performed. We turned up to a heartly performance of I Will Wait and the crowd was going bonkers, they were absolutely loving it! We didn't stay for too long but instead went back to the tent to prepare ourselves for one of the best sets all weekend: Knife Party... And when I say one of the best act all weekend I mean one of the best acts all weekend.

We arose on Sunday nearly defeated but not completely yet; we had one day left to prove we're not getting too old for festivals and that we still had it in us to go 5 days without a shower (I know, its disgusting isn't it). The mood across the festival was definitely a lot lower today, Everyone shared the same view however, its the last day so we had to make sure we give it our all and we did. With the dawn of Sunday brought one more day of incredible live music and socialising with the people we love the most. Sunday's acts included bands such as DJ FRESH, SecondCity and someone we've been looking forward to since as long as we could remember: Mark Kinchen. MK was definitely one of our more anticipated acts of the weekend, We'd been talking about him for ages. We made our way to the arena, eager to hear today's treats and killing time till MK took to the Dance Stage for one final dance before saying goodbye to our beloved festival. As MK finished off his life changing set we made our way to see the end of Rebel Sound who surely had the crowd going more than any act we had seen all weekend. Eventually Monday came around and it hit us: this was the end of another spectacular show from Festival Republic. As we slowly packed our bags we already had our heads held high waiting for that same Bank Holiday weekend to come around in 2016.

Thank you, Bramham Park.
